Meet Artist & Entrepreneur Julia Wester of Camp!
We are so excited to launch our limited edition MAMA + MINI tees in collaboration with the amazing CAMP by Julia Wester!
Julia is the Founder and Creative Mastermind behind CAMP, where beautiful blends of unique color combinations via a very special hand dye technique come to life on clothing, accessories, and home goods.
Prior to Camp, Julia was an Emmy-winning Television Producer and then became the Creative Content Director at Oh Joy!. After 7 years, Julia found herself transitioning into navigating a new life with 2 kiddos at home during a pandemic. After tie dyeing tees for her son’s Camp themed 2nd birthday, Julia began experimenting and dyeing more pieces for friends and family. One thing led to another and CAMP was born.

WE'RE SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR DOLKII X CAMP BY JULIA WESTER TIE DYE MAMA + MINI COLLECTION TO LAUNCH! CAN YOU TELL OUR READERS ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS BEHIND IT?
I had a vision of creating something that would give off an island vibe. I started working with colors that would mix well together to create a unique colorway.
HOW DID YOU LEARN TO DYE CLOTHING AND HOW HAS YOUR TECHNIQUE EVOLVED?
I'm a naturally creative person and just jumped right in and started dyeing everything in my home. Everything white in my home was suddenly dyed! With ice dye, I started testing out pairings of colors, since the way they blend is unique. My technique has evolved with different ways to dye. I have learned that I can also create splatter patterns which I have done on a lot of my home decor.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A BUSINESS OWNER AND HAND DYE ARTIST?
What I love most is being able to create what I want to create everyday. I love that CAMP is mine and I'm honestly constantly learning everyday and I've been able to try new ways to create and I love it.
WHERE DOES THE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR COLOR COMBINATIONS COME FROM?
My inspiration for my color ways come from the outdoors, specifically sunny LA!
WHAT ARE YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PRODUCTS FROM YOUR SHOP?
My absolute favorite products in my shop are my bedding. I love my sheets and pillowcases. I do a unique confetti splatter technique on them and the way it blends is so beautiful. I also really love our ice dye kits. I have curated different colors for all the kits so that you can buy all three and have all different colors.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ASPIRING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS WHO ARE LOOKING TO TRANSITION OUT OF THEIR CURRENT CAREER TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESS?
"Leap and the net will appear". Just go for it! You won't know what you're doing but it'll be worth a shot for sure. Surround yourself with other female entrepreneurs who will help support and lift you.
