WHAT ARE 3 FACTS ABOUT YOU THAT YOU'D LOVE OUR READERS TO KNOW?
  1. The basics: I’m a wife to my high school sweetheart and talented tattoo artist, Keahi and mama bear to my 1 year old, Isla.
  2. My prior career path was the medical field. I wanted to be a pediatrician and I worked as a medical assistant in pediatric and dermatology offices before becoming a stay at home mother! It was a scary but pivotal transition that was absolutely worth it!
  3. Some of the things that fill my bucket are:
    • quality time with my mini family
    • traveling and documenting those moments
    • coffee dates
    • designing and curating: besides bullet journaling I love fashion, style, and interior design
WHAT DOES BUJOBAE MEAN AND HOW WAS YOUR AMAZING BUSINESS BORN?
BUJO “boo-joh” is a trendy cute version of saying bullet journal and BAE is THAT woman. She’s on it, focused as much as she is reflective and rooted. Bujo bae is that woman that I aspire to be and I admit my alter ego.

Okay, so the origin story: Bullet journaling started off as a hobby. Life working as a medical assistant left no room for creative juices and I also felt bored when it came to using a regular daily planner. I was always into art and design so bullet journaling was a creative outlet to track my health with an unexpected diagnosis of Lupus at 25 years old and documenting my travels. I started a separate Instagram page to share that growth. After so many requests and words of encouragement over my years of bullet journaling, I was inspired to create products for aesthetic journaling. Bujo bae seriously blosoomed when I decided to be a stay home mom! I truly believe that bullet journaling is beneficial in so many ways! The mantra that's behind this business is bujo for the mind, stickers for the heart, and journaling for the soul. When your plans are pretty (and organized) it opens the floodgates to a better mood, increasing motivation, and productivity.

WHAT ARE YOU TOP 3 FAVORITE PRODUCTS IN YOUR SHOP?
THE DAILY NOTEPAD She is a new product that will be a part of this new Spring launch! This product is the perfect piece of stationery to help you get focused for the day! It's everything on one page: start the day with noting your priorities for the day, then time blocking, a to do list, a place to plan your outfit and meals, and lastly a mini tracker!
THE CUSTOM RESIN KEYCHAINS (specifically the zodiac and letter combo with a mix of ombre and flowers design. LOL) She is a part of the aesthetic. Like bullet journaling, it's custom and made for you! It's another medium that I love dabbling in and a perfect little gift for your favorite person (and for you too)!

THEMED STICKER SHEETS I loved making these too! These stickers add an element of design to your plans even if you're not "artsy." I love the cute sayings, the themed illustrated stickers, and the dot stickers! They are all designed to make your plans functional and pretty.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT AND LAUNCH THIS BEAUTIFUL MOTHER'S DAY BOX?
So FUN FACT! This year Mother's Day lands on my birthday. Also, I'm turning 30 this year and so naturally I wanted to make this day extra special! The mama bundle will have our Dolkii x Bujo Bae MAMA tee, the weekly planner, themed sticker kit, and a custom letter keychain! It's a box of my favorite things and top sellers! Lots of people (and mamas) have mentioned to me that they don't have time or aren't artsy to have a pretty bullet journal, so I designed a notepad and sticker sheets perfect with mamas in mind! The making of this tee with you, Dolkii, was a bucket list collaboration I had when I first started Bujo Bae. You made my birthday wishes come true! The custom keychain is that extra something personalized for that special mama!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE WOMEN FEATURED IN YOUR SHOOT! WE'D LOVE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEM!
THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Alyssa @cozy_captures I met her while working at Oahu Dermatology, she took newborn photos for one of the doctor's I worked for. She gave me her contact information while I was pregnant and the rest is history. She shot my maternity, newborn, holiday card, and now brand photos! She is now based in SoCal but flies in town for weddings and events. Alyssa was actually booked for a wedding! Timing worked out and was in town just in time for the tees to come in!

THE FLOWERS Elisha Hunter @bohobloomshawaii I actually met Elisha the same day I met Shaiyanne! It was at the Pia St. pop up a few years ago! Elisha makes all of these flowers by hand! I have a black thumb, so these flowers are perfect for me! She makes arrangements and custom pieces like bouquets and flower crowns that last forever!

The MAMAS! These ladies are all mothers (or soon to be mamas) that I love and look up to! They are all amazing women and I wanted to celebrate women like them!
  • Nikki (size: S): We were co-workers from Eden in Love and now friends for life! She got pregnant with her beautiful daughter, Kira, a couple months after I got pregnant! She's feisty, a big dreamer, and knows how to work her angles! I absolutely love her!
  • Mai (size L): She is in her third trimester, glowing, and soon to be new mama! I met her through mutual friends in college and other people can agree is one of the sweetest people ever! We share the same passion for being a foodie and traveling with our husbands. I'm so excited to see her family grow!
  • Ashley (size L): She's family and wife to my first cousin. She is a beautiful strong mama of 4, works from home for CPS and counseling services for a hospital in Oregon. We were pregnant at the same time and her daughter is only 3 weeks older than Isla! We see each other weekly for baby girl dates and I'm so lucky to have mama to share stories and crack mom jokes with
WHO ARE SOME OF THE WOMEN YOU LOOK UP TO IN LIFE? Now that I think about it, I've only worked for strong successful women in my career life. There are two women that come to mind and I've had the pleasure to work for and get to know over a couple of years! Pediatrician, Dr. Nadine Tenn Salle and dermatologist, Dr. Miki Garcia. I don't know how they do it all. They're both mothers to 2 boys each, give back to Oahu through healthcare, are very caring people, and are continuing to inspire learning and growth! They've counseled me and taught me a lot in my twenties. I'm absolutely grateful for these women.
YOU'RE NOW A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND A HALF INTO MAMAHOOD... ANY ADVICE YOU CAN OUR MAMA ENTREPRENEURS BALANCING IT ALL?
As Isla is growing, I'm growing along with her! Prior to motherhood, I was used to tackling a HUGE list of things in chronological order and found validation in that. As mothers know, that does not happen and that list is ongoing. Plans change hourly and, if lucky, I would complete half of a task a day. I struggled with that in the beginning.
My advice is to celebrate the mini wins and create healthy boundaries. I had to redefine what winning for the day meant to me. Instead of a huge list to get done...I picked 3 things (and somedays even one) I would complete for the day. Overtime this got me focused, eliminated mom/work guilt, and created happiness in my life. Each month I make sure I create time for the things that fill my life bucket and live life accordingly.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DOLKII TEE?!
The tees are all so great! The quality, color, and softness of the tees are *chef's kiss! I'd have to say the TATAS tee! Because I can relate to some of the boob shapes especially since going through postpartum. LOL. It's a fun graphic tee, created for a wonderful cause, and personally an essential tee in my wardrobe.
