Willaminha's First Birthday - Portland, Oregon
This past April, my daughter, Willaminha, turned ONE. To be honest, I was not planning on throwing her a First Birthday Party. Running a small business and mom-ing is hard enough I didn't need yet another to-do list. But after thinking long and hard about it, I decided to move forward with a small gathering just for our family and closest PDX friends. I reminded myself that Willa was in my belly during the toughest times of the pandemic, so we weren't able to celebrate her with things like a baby shower or gender reveal party. I don't regret that one bit, a our health and safety were top priority. So I saw this party as a way to make up for all those missed celebrations.. and travel with her to Portland for the first time, to see where her Daddy grew up!
I had the chance to work with some amazing small businesses in Portland who helped bring Willa's SWEET ONE celebration to life. It wasn't easy planning a party out-of-state, but I am SO thankfully they made the whole planning process seamless and an enjoyable experience. How did I find these vendors? Honestly, INSTAGRAM HASHTAGS. Yes, they are still relevant (to me!) and if these vendors didn't use tags like #pdxevents or #pdxphotographer, etc... I probably would have never found them! So to all you small businesses out there who are super frustrated and annoyed with the current way IG is operating, keep doing what you're doing. Maybe you'll only get 10 likes on a photo you spent hours curating a caption for, but that does NOT correlate to conversion and your next customer could very well be a hashtag away!
I would like to give a special mahalo to all who made this day so special for Willa and our family. If you are planning on hosting an event in Portland, Oregon, I highly recommend all of these vendors!
