This month, with the launch of our Buy Local or Bye Local Tee, we've decided to celebrate local as much as we possibly can by highlighting some of our favorite local businesses!
Everytime I am back on O'ahu, these are some of my go-to coffee shops to grab a pick-me-up, or take meetings. I love supporting these small businesses, who keep our local community thriving. Sure it's easy to stop at a convenient Starbucks, but now more than ever, local businesses need our support. Selling t-shirts is hard, but selling food & beverages that have strict shelf lives is even harder! So next time you pass by one of these cafes (or any other locally owned cafe!) give them a try :)... trust me, you won't regret it and every dollar you spend will go a long way!
ARVO CAFE

A beautiful coffee shop serving up an equally beautiful menu? Look no further than ARVO, a gem of a cafe located in the artsy neighborhood of SALT at Kakaako. Owner Dixie Rose and team did a phenomenal job fusing coffee culture with art, florals and more. This spot is enjoyed by visitors yes, but also gets a huge stamp of approval by locals.
One of my favorite things to order here is their loaded avocado toast and matcha latte with oat milk for when I’m in the mood for something savory OR their ricotta toast and lavender latte for when I'm in the mood for something sweet!

Kaimukī just welcomed it’s newest beverage nook, Daily Whisk Matcha! Owned by Ten Tomorrow’s founder, Summer Shiigi, Daily Whisk Matcha is quickly growing in popularity as your go-to pick me up spot in the neighborhood! Yes, they serve lattes & espresso too, but it’s their Matcha specials you’re going to want to try!
BONUS! While you’re there, be sure to stop by the Ten Tomorrow store where you can shop Summer’s line of beautiful clothing for women & girls, all designed & sewn in Hawai’i. She also carries various local brands like Jules + Gem Hawai’i, Misha Hawai’i & Umbrella Collective!

Kona Coffee Purveyors has become one of the only reasons I visit Waikikī! From the taste of their espresso to their incredible bakery of fresh baked goods, my mouth is watering just writing this blog post! Owned by husband and wife duo Raymond & Jackie Suiter, there’s a history to the making of these beans that answers the question, “Why does this coffee taste so damn good?!” Raymond credits Jackie as being the flavor scientist behind why their espresso is so much more elevated than other beans.
This dynamic duo is part of the entire coffee process from growth to roasting, making sure that every step along the way is executed with top quality in mind… and it reflects in the end result! So while Kona Coffee Purveyors isn’t *technically* fully woman-owned, I had to add them to this list because one, their drinks and bakery are amazing and two, reading about Jackie’s work ethic and commitment to coffee is GOALS as a business owner! I highly encourage you to read an article byHiLuxury Magazine where she talks about her journey building Kona Coffee Purveyors with her husband.
My go-to order? A small iced oat milk latte with just a little bit of vanilla, paired with a warm chocolate chip cookie and Guava Kouign Amann.
MIRAGE ART & COFFEE

Tucked away in Pālolo Valley you’ll find a gem of a coffee shop: Mirage Art & Coffee. It’s a bit out of the way for most people, but I’m super lucky that my parent’s home is in the back of Pālolo so coming to this quaint local coffee shop is very convenient for me! Owner Jasmin El-Gohary beautifully infused her Arabian heritage with her love for coffee to create a wonderful atmosphere for guests to enjoy. BONUS, you can only find Turkish & Saudi Arabian coffee here!
